About the Dzawada’enuxw First Nation
We refer to ourselves as both the Dzawada’enuxw and the Musgamakw Dzawada’enuxw. The outside world and the Government of Canada see us as four tribes however we have always been One People. This we know from our origin stories, and from generations of intermarriage, co-habitation, and respectful shared resource use.
Our community in Ukwanalis Village is based alongside the breathtaking Gwa'yi (Kingcome) river on the mainland within a glacier-fed river valley that is surrounded by towering mountains across from the northern tip of Vancouver Island.
