TELUS is looking for an energetic Senior Community Investment Manager who resides in Edmonton to support the overall success of the Community Investment portfolio in Alberta, and specifically manage and administer the successful operations of the Edmonton and Northern Alberta regions. This includes but is not limited to the TELUS Edmonton Community Board, regional funding & charitable partnerships and other local community investment activities including employee engagement through the organization of TELUS Days of Giving activities. The right person for this role will be very knowledgeable of the local charitable sector and have proven business acumen. As part of our dynamic Community Affairs team you will report to the team lead based in Calgary responsible for executing our Community Investment strategy in Western Canada.

    •Using the national strategy, create and manage a regional strategic plan for community investment activities •Administer all activities associated with the successful operations of the TELUS Edmonton Community Board including:
      •Arrange board meetings and strategic planning sessions •Manage all meeting logistics •Research, prepare and distribute all board materials •Provide strategic direction and support to charitable partners seeking TELUS funding •Manage board succession planning process •Manage all reporting and administration functions
    •Manage all philanthropic initiatives associated with community investment including: cheque distributions, community investment led events such as the Edmonton Celebration of Giving, supporting community investment related media events, advertising and promoting visibility community initiatives •Work with the community investment marketing team to identify partners for cause marketing initiatives and manage all associated relationships •Cultivate and manage community partnerships to maximize profile, and enhance relationships •Identify new business development opportunities from a community investment perspective •Represent TELUS to internal and external audiences from a community investment perspective •Manage and execute national initiatives such as TELUS Days of Giving, Team TELUS Charitable Giving Campaign at the local level •Mobilize the teams in your regions to support community investment activities •Collaborate with the TELUS Community Ambassadors on various initiatives •Activate emergency relief campaigns necessary in relevant markets •Support other TELUS Business units with community investment support as needed •Provide content for the TELUS media relations team, TELUS.com/community site and other business units as required •Support of TELUS Executive at events and in the community when required

    •A superior client service and consultative orientation comfortable working with all levels within organization to deal with a demanding and sophisticated audience at the organization's senior levels, as well as with other key external and internal audiences •Strategic business imperatives and understanding of competitive landscape •Familiarity with the not-for-profit sector in the Edmonton area and the Province of Alberta •Excellent interpersonal and communications skills - written and oral with superior attention to detail and excellent organizational skills •Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team and to influence and facilitate on different projects and tasks

With:
    •5+ years relevant business and/or not-for-profit experience •Previous experience working with a board of directors or in the area of grant making required •Bachelor degree in marketing, communications, journalism or business •Not-for-profit certification (CFRE) considered an asset •Above average skills in Word, Excel and PowerPoint •Public speaking, media relations and communications skills are preferred •Knowledge using Benevity software an asset
