Faced with constant growth in the renewable energy market in Canada, WSP is currently seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer specialized in embankment dam engineering. The successful candidate will be involved with the design team to support the execution of ongoing projects in Canada. The position is offered at our offices in Edmonton and Calgary.
The Candidate(s) will work in Hydro & Dams Markets, within multidisciplinary teams specialized in geotechnical, structural, hydraulics, electrical and mechanical, who work in constant and close collaboration.

What you can expect to do here:
- You will perform design of embankment dams, dykes and cofferdam (new or rehabilitation works) and dam stabilization works including parameters evaluation, geotechnical analyses and concepts/preliminary design.
- You will perform site inspection.
- You will perform Dam Safety Reviews of embankment dams including inspection and monitoring of geotechnical instruments and data analysis/interpretation.
- You will perform detailed design of embankment dams, including drawing supervision and specifications preparations.
- You will ensure technical support during construction.
- You will provide guidance to engineers, technicians, and drafting team.
- You will ensure quality control of the various deliverables by participating in multidisciplinary coordination meetings and design reviews, amongst others.
- You will support the manager in business development activities and team development.
- You will participate in the growth of the business unit.
- You will do other related tasks that could enhance the execution of projects and technical development of the business unit.
What you'll bring to WSP:
- Master's degree in civil engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or equivalent program (Master's degree in geotechnical with specialization in dams engineering, an asset).
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng designation) in in a Canadian province.
- Proven experience in embankment dam engineering (geotechnical).
- Proven experience in embankment dam inspection and Dam Safety Review.
- Knowledge in legislation and guidelines related to dam safety.
- Multidisciplinary versatility, leadership skills, dynamic, teams spirited, quality oriented and technical excellence are essential.
- Strong communication skills.
