Reporting to the Lead, Sourcing and Contracts Management, the Senior IT Contracts Management Specialist is responsible for preparing, negotiating, and administering IT contracts for consulting services, cloud computing, outsourcing and software. This role is accountable for oversight of strategic contracts including all transactional responsibilities related to Teck's largest technology suppliers! This includes the contractual management and exploitation of maximum potential value available to Teck for major agreements with strategic suppliers like Microsoft, Shaw, FireEye, McKinsey and Accenture, etc. This role will also be required to provide leadership and domain expertise for any additional strategic supplier relationships.

Responsibilities:
  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Leads the negotiations of complex/high profile procurement initiatives in partnership with TDS and RACE executives. The successful outcomes of these initiatives are those solutions that meet business requirements and add new value for Teck as measured by reductions to Teck's EBITDA through the Path to Value .
  • Implement agreements with strategic suppliers with a $10M - $50M+ contract value
  • Liaises between Teck & suppliers, acting as a central point of contact for contractual issues. Leads and manages a group of matrixed team members including senior managers and directors across the enterprise (Legal, Risk, Tax, Finance, Procurement, and T&I) as well as supplier account teams.
  • Provides Subject Matter Expertise for: consulting, cloud and software spend from initiation of requirements, engagement of suppliers for proposals, coordination of financial documents, engagement of Procurement, interaction with Legal, presentation of contract to executives for signoff, etc.
  • Develops trusted advisor relationships and valued contracting advice to facilitate the effective management and completion of procurement initiatives.
  • Draft and review IT vendor contracts independently/in partnership with legal counsel including but not limited to: consulting services agreements and SOW's, software end user license agreements, maintenance-support agreements, outsourced service level agreements, hardware, and cloud-based services agreements
  • Take a leadership role in the preparation of responses to solicitations
  • Mentor more junior IT Contracts Management Specialists with contract negotiation


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business administration, logistics, finance, engineering or related subject area required
  • 10+ years' experience in leading contract negotiation, pricing and procurement activities.
  • Background in or general knowledge of information technology hardware and software
  • A deep understanding of IT contracting and commercial concepts and processes, coupled with strong communication skills and the dexterity to lead complex commercial negotiations
  • Extraordinary interpersonal skills, both verbal and written, with the sufficiency to adapt to different audiences, including proven ability to effectively present commercial concepts clearly and concisely
  • Experience in contracts management and/or supply chain operations, with proven capability in strategy development, contract drafting and negotiation, and supplier relationship and performance management and strategic sourcing
  • Experience in successfully leading large cross-functional or multi-disciplinary teams to develop and complete projects, initiatives, strategies, or other large opportunities and drive superior results and value creation
  • Strong skills in time management, handling multiple tasks, setting priorities, and timely written communication
  • Basic understanding of accounting (accruals, payment cycle, capitalization, budgeting)
