To do this you will work with vendors and stay at the forefront of industry trends to own, define and drive Optik TV Analytics roadmap to quantify Optik TV Eco System performance.

TELUS is looking for a Data Scientist/Architect, a position within the Optik TV Service Development team.

The position involves working with a team of telecom professionals to establish a roadmap and architecture that will define and implement systems to support the collection and analytics of data to report on the performance of content service features and capabilities that will support TELUS' plans to launch innovative and future friendly entertainment services.

The position is broad in scope and positions the candidate as the specialist across the entire TELUS organization. This includes having an understanding of developing content portfolio strategies, roadmap, architecture, while at the same time obtaining business and engineering alignment, supporting all activities within the portfolio and most importantly maintaining a high performance culture by developing, growing and leading a team of professionals. Your enthusiasm for learning, love of a challenge and leadership capabilities will be keys to your success.

    •Build cross functional and fully aligned product roadmaps •Work with a team of service architects to meet groups priorities •Oversee the project to completion, supporting the delivery processes that are in place •Maintain relationships with external vendors and other carriers •Customize features and functions •Write functional and technical requirements documents for new features and functions, develop specifications and performance requirements and resolve customer problems •Write best practices and troubleshooting documents •Write test cases, test plans, and test reports •Test, identify issues, troubleshoot to determine root cause •Track issues and ensure that they are resolved satisfactorily

Technical Skills:
    •Working knowledge of TELUS' entertainment services portfolio with practical knowledge of the surrounding access, transport and control technologies, plus high-level knowledge of the required operational systems •Advanced knowledge in various advanced predictive modeling/data mining techniques to ensure effective solutions to marketing issues •Working knowledge of standards bodies that influence the direction of the services ecosystem •General knowledge of Wireless/Wireline/Telecom/IT systems and platforms •Knowledge of Ericsson Mediaroom and Mediafirst platforms including Set-top Box, Video on Demand and supporting Operating Systems •Knowledge of security and authentication best practices •Extensive Hands-on experience in SAS (or SAS Enterprise Guide), SAS Enterprise Miner, Hive, SPARK, R, Python, SQL and other data query language on UNIX/PC and comfortable working with very large data sets and databases •Knowledge of IPTV, OTT, QOS, Web Servers/Applications Servers •Project/task planning experience and ability to develop and maintain the IPTV architectural roadmap and strategy, while aligning with other groups •A strong working knowledge to support the readiness and delivery of OTT (Unicast) & Private (multicast) technologies •Experience with hardware/software integration and real-time, embedded systems and operating systems

    •Ability to maintain a reliable and methodological approach to Support and Documentation •Demonstrated ability to acquire technical knowledge and skills rapidly •Innovative problem solver, able to see the business and technical sides of a problem •Strong quantitative, analytical and problem solving skills •Good communication skills and time management skills •Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a "do what it takes" attitude is a must •Ability to manage key deliverables as part of an extended project team

Education & Experience:
    •Degree in Computer Science or Engineering •Minimum 10+ years of direct experience with an IPTV environment, preferably with a carrier or vendor •Experience in data collection, data mining, and analytics
