About the Opportunity

We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Service Technician to join our team in Taber, Alberta.  

Reporting to the General Manager, this is a hands-on role in which you will be responsible for supervising service technicians, coordinating field and shop service, and supervising and participating in machinery assembly and testing.

While you will have a standard Monday to Friday work week, please note that you will be part of an on-call schedule where some weekend work may be required. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Tasking service technicians on a daily basis and ensure that the correct jobs are being dealt with at the right times.
  • Ensuring Tasking Sheet is completed by end of each day for next days duties.
  • Ensuring that all work areas are organized efficiently, a plan developed and followed to enhance the flow of equipment in the work area.
  • Ordering parts in the quickest and most cost-efficient method available, in cooperation with the parts department.
  • Establishing a schedule so that there is a technician on call during crucial times and seasons.
  • Ensuring the service technicians follow the guidelines in the service of equipment and keep their service vehicles clean and organized at all times.
  • Ensuring all paperwork as required relating to service or warranty repairs is filled out promptly and correctly and submitted to accounting.
  • Ensuring that assembly, packing, and shipping of equipment is done in the safest way possible.
  • Establishing a safety and maintenance routine within the work area, review fire and emergency procedures on a regular basis.
  • Performing any other tasks as directed by the General Manager.

You will also need to research and familiarize yourself with the specific products we sell. From time to time, you may be requested to attend additional training courses, in the US and in Europe, as part of your development in the role. 

To qualify for this role, you preferably will be a Journeyman Red Seal Mechanic or Millwright and possess a minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a service shop or field service. Previous leadership or supervisory experience will be considered a definite asset. 

Our ideal candidate will have a wider scope of interest in electronics(AC/DC) and hydraulics and be able for the challenge of working on several different types of machinery. 

You will also possess:

  • The ability to read electrical(AC/DC) and hydraulic schematic drawings (required).
  • The ability to help customers and guide them through repairs remotely over telephone and computer from our office.
  • The ability to identify and determine parts required and then arrange to get them in the most efficient and timely method.
  • Proficiency with computers and the Microsoft Office suite of programs.
  • The ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, and lift up to 100 pounds.

Above all, you will have strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to direct others. You are an analytical professional who works well under pressure and who can multitask.
