ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY 

Methanex currently has an exciting career opportunity for a Site Reliability Engineer to join our team in Medicine Hat on a full-time basis. 

In this role, you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of the plant reliability framework and culture.

This includes identifying reliability risks that could impact the plant or business operations, and delivering reliability strategies, analysis and solutions to measure and improve plant performance.

Acting as the champion for the Medicine Hat site in becoming ‘Reliability Driven’, your key accountabilities will include:

  • Analyzing asset performance to identify issues such as high cost of maintenance
  • Confirming appropriate management strategies are in place for all equipment; and, effective use of predictive and other methods of investigation to ensure processes are in place to identify and isolate inherent reliability problems
  • Utilizing the Management of Change (MOC) procedure to provide, manage and execute engineering solutions to equipment failures and other issues that impact plant reliability
  • Analyzing plant reliability data, including both equipment and production data
  • Applying robust reliability analysis using data analysis tools (e.g. statistical modelling, reliability modelling and prediction, fault tree analysis, and Weibull analysis) and root cause analysis
  • Maintaining and distributing the site vulnerability list to ensure vulnerabilities are identified, prioritized and mitigation plans are processed

Our successful candidate will possess:

  • An undergraduate degree with a major in an engineering discipline required
  • Eight years of related industrial experience, with at least five years in a reliability-related role
  • Aspiration to advance into a leadership role
  • Designation as a Certified Reliability Professional (CMRP or CRE) is an asset, as is a graduate level qualification in reliability, such as a Masters of Maintenance Engineering and Reliability Engineering or similar discipline
  • Previous experience with incident investigation methodology, such as Tap Root or other root cause analysis
  • Experience providing direction and leadership to a multi-disciplinary team, as well as achieving results through influence
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of programs

Other combinations of education, training and experience may be considered based on significant related experience in a relevant industrial setting.

This role is well suited to a customer-focused professional who is dedicated to meeting the expectations of internal and external customers and has excellent written and verbal communication and listening skills, as well as the ability to build and maintain relationships including strong team collaboration skills within diverse teams.

Independently motivated, you are an innovative and creative thinker who is focused on continuous improvement, oriented towards actively seeking opportunities to improve plant reliability and possess sound judgment evidenced by a demonstrated ability to make valuable recommendations and decisions based on a mixture of analysis, wisdom and experience.

You will do well in this role if you have strong time management, planning and prioritization skills with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple, sometimes competing, priorities and readily adapt to change while maintaining a high level of efficiency and productivity.
