ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Methanex is currently seeking a qualified Site Training Coordinator to join our team in Medicine Hat, Alberta on a temporary basis. 

As our new Site Training Coordinator you are the subject matter expert, and primary administrator of the Learning Management Software System (LMS) and its associated processes while also being responsible for the administration of the site competency assurance system in close collaboration and conjunction with key stakeholders. 

In addition, this role provides administration and coordination supports for mandatory and developmental training, as a part of the Human Resources team. This role will work closely with the Human Resources team, as well as all site Administrative Assistants to ensure that employees are aware of and accurately record all training and development within the LMS to ensure complete and accurate reporting. This position supports the Human Resources team from an administrative standpoint in achieving other elements of Learning and Development, such as coordination of leadership programs (MLE) and the site training plan.

More specifically your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring that the LMS is the single source of training records, competency assurance, and when necessary, building new training modules.
  • Providing reports and analysis of LMS data to help decision making.
  • Being responsible for the ongoing administration of the Competency Assurance programmes, updating and maintaining the Learner Management System (Active Learner) in conjunction with the Administration Assistants.
  • Documenting LMS system processes for the purpose of standardization and training guides.
  • Responsibility for coordination of the site training plan.
  • Researching and sourcing training resources related to identified employee requirements for knowledge, skill, and competency development. 
  • Organizing and coordinating internal and external training sessions as directed by the Human Resources team. 
  • Completing process mapping, job role definition and job critical competence, to identify gaps as part of the competence assurance framework. 
  • Ensuring the Learning and Development Framework guideline documentation is completed. 
  • Carrying out administrative coordination of Methanex Leadership Essentials (MLE) program in conjunction with Human Resources team, and post event follow up activities. 
  • Acting as the site owner for utilization, reporting, and execution of government programs such as Alberta Job Grant. 
  • Updating and maintaining learning materials, processes, calendars or catalogues. 
  • Producing reports on learning and development activity progress.
  • Maintaining learning and development inventory while also researching and sourcing learning and development supplies. 
  • Maintaining standard templates and tools for identified internal learning and leadership programs. 
  • Tracking global learning activities in relevant HR Systems. 
  • Maintaining MIKE pages, SharePoint for Learning and Development documentation.
  • Designing and producing Human Resource dashboards, metrics, demographics and analytics, relating to learning and development. 
  • Supporting Administrative Assistants in each department for the development and ongoing maintenance of the Departmental Competency Assurance programme and ensuring alignment of this system with current best practices for adult learning.
  • Working with departments to ensure consistency of approach for internal training and any necessary auditing requirement for learning and development activities. 
  • Supporting research into departmental training plans, contributing to overall site training plan preparation. 
  • Providing input to the Human Resource team for expected employee development and training costs and budgets. 
  • Networking with other Methanex sites to the mutual benefit of all sites.
  • Conducting all business in a manner which supports the Responsible Care® ethic.

In order to qualify for this role, a post-secondary diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, Office Administration, or other relevant discipline is required, though a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered. Three years of relevant experience in a Human Resources or learning and development support role is preferred. Previous experience with systems administration as well as demonstrated critical analysis, systems thinking, and troubleshooting skills are also required.
