Provide loss prevention expertise by conducting routine commercial risks inspections, risk re-evaluations, and other related loss prevention responsibilities as assigned.
•As Commercial Loss Control Specialist you will be required to work independently to organize, schedule and complete work assignments under minimal direct supervision.
•Perform on-site surveys and interviews to evaluate risk and make sound recommendations to prevent losses based on various code requirements and good risk management practices.
•Highly motivated person with excellent organizational and time management skills to conduct loss control field surveys on a variety of risks including property, casualty, realty, manufacturing, products liability, completed operations liability, building condition assessments and replacement cost appraisals.
•Strong professional communication skills.
•Ability to work autonomously and efficiently to travel to risk locations to gather technical data, measure risks, and photograph buildings, business operations, hazards.
•Ability to efficiently analyze data and write concise and informative reports.
•Strong knowledge and proficiency for technology, laptops, mobile devices, cameras, measuring devices, and various software applications (Microsoft) to prepare high-quality technical reports and replacement cost appraisals.
•Ability to interpret the Building Code, Fire Code, NFPA Standards, Provincial Transportation requirements, and to research and interpret various codes, standards, and bylaws as required.
•Ability and willingness to travel regularly within an assigned area. Occasional overnight or out-of-province travel is required.
•Successful candidate is required to have a dedicated home office with high-speed internet
•• Provide technical Loss control support to the commercial underwriting team with respect to reviewing and interpreting loss control reports and recommendations. Job Requirements
•At least 5 years loss control experience across all industry segments (manufacturing, wholesalers, retailers, hospitality, restaurants, realty)
•Post-secondary technical education and or completion of CIP/FCIP
•Strong oral, written communications, and computer skills (including report writing). • Self-motivated with good organizational skills.
•Valid driver's license, and ability to travel.
