Would you like to work for a division of Agriculture and Forestry that is responsible for protecting Alberta's forests and forest communities by preventing and suppressing wildfires?


Edmonton is currently looking for a highly motivated individual with strong organizational and communication skills. Under the direction of the Mechanical Services Supervisor, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic, repairs and maintenance to a diversified range of wildfire suppression equipment. You will be expected, for the most part, to work independently in accordance with trade practices and manufacturer's specification. As the successful candidate, you will possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment.


Salary: $2,509.84 bi-weekly ($65,506 annually). Closing Date: March 27, 2019. Job ID #1053942


Qualifications: Must possess a journeyman (M/F) level trade certificate as an Automotive Service Technician along with related small engine repair experience. Demonstrated experience with internal combustion engines (2 and 4 stroke), along with carburetor systems, points and electronic ignition systems and the ability to utilize and understand service and repair manuals is also required. Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience of the specialized small equipment used in wildfire suppression is preferred. Experience with Microsoft Windows along with Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, MSDS and WHMIS are all desirable assets.



  • This is a temporary position set to expire on September 15, 2019, with a possibility of extension.
  • This is an 8-hour per day position. Candidates must be able to lift the weight of the equipment (approximately 60 lbs).
  • Some overtime may be required during Fire Season (evenings and weekends).
  • Travel to remote locations to work in mobile repair facility is possible during periods of high fire risk; therefore, candidates must be eligible for Class 5 driver's license.
