The Mobile Broadband Network Engineering (MBNE) - Radio Access Network (RAN) Design team is a group of highly motivated engineers who have a passion for deploying the network infrastructure to achieve best in class network services to our customers. Our team is responsible for the design and implementation of TELUS' wireless network. This includes a broad range of planning and engineering activities, from projects that guide executive strategy to implementing network augments that support customer traffic at special events.

The MBNE-RAN Design team is always at the cutting edge of wireless technology delivering the newest and the best services to our customers. With the advent of 5G wireless technology, you will have the opportunity to work with the radio frequency (RF) Engineers and define the future leveraging your automation, data science and machine learning skills.

As a RAN Engineer II (Design Specialist II) for MBNE, you'll collaborate with RF Engineers and provide technical support to ensure we efficiently deploy network infrastructure to meet the increasing demand for wireless service.

Your efforts will ensure that our millions of customers are able to enjoy a world class wireless network experience. Your creativity coupled with strong automation and big-data analytical skills will allow us to find the most efficient ways of building our wireless network to support existing mobility services and offer new services.

Finally, together as a team, we will help shape the future vision of TELUS' wireless network by providing important guidance to executives on how to best address our evolving business challenges.

Here's how
    •Understanding and gathering RF engineering requirements and providing data analytics, web applications and scripting tools to help the Engineers in their day to day processes •Designing, developing, testing, and supporting custom web applications, dashboards & automation tools •Providing subject matter expertise (SME) in software engineering best practices, insights & guidelines to the RF Engineers to promote automation and efficiency •Working closely with RF Engineers through a variety of technical challenges that will require creativity & close collaboration across internal functions •Implementing data collection, and storage architectures to support our big data initiatives & data-driven insights •Creating mock-ups/wireframes and review with RF engineers to ensure delivery of solutions that meet business needs •Managing the progression & execution of projects •Keeping up-to-date with software, data science and RF technologies and proposing new platforms & tools •Communicating effectively status updates, roadblocks, etc •Mentoring, assisting & supporting other team members


Qualifications:


You're the missing piece of the puzzle
    •Computer Science/Engineering degree or equivalent background •3+ years of software developing experience; full stack development experience preferred •Strong problem solving, analytical & mathematical skills •Ability to effectively manage own time & concurrent projects •Detail oriented, analytical, motivated, team player •Able to work independently •Technical knowledge
      •Strong experience with some of the following languages : C/C++, C# & Java •Strong experience with Structured Query Language (SQL), database design & development: MySQL, SQL Server, PostgreSQL Oracle, Hadoop, MongoDB •Experience with markup languages: Hypertext Markup Language (HTML), Extensible Markup Language (XML) & JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) •Experience with JavaScript frameworks like JQuery, AngularJS, React or others •Knowledge of one the following scripting languages: Python, R & Ruby •Passion for automation, data science & machine learning

Great-to-haves
    •Master degree in Computer Science or Engineering •Knowledge of Tableau, Splunk or Alteryx •Knowledge of and/or previous experience in mobile telecommunications technologies, HSPA/LTE/5G, RF planning & design •Experience with data science & machine learning
