Department Overview

The Digital Channels Team builds and runs the digital services that Canadian business customers use to manage their everyday banking online. We serve small, medium, and large businesses by making their banking simpler, faster, and more reliable. Our employees design, build, and support these digital experiences end to end, working closely with partners across the bank. The team focuses on safe, dependable technology that works at scale and supports millions of business interactions each day.

Job Details

The Software Engineer III will lead the end-to-end technical design and delivery of complex projects and platform capabilities, translating stakeholder requirements into secure, scalable, and maintainable solutions. This role is accountable for solution architecture, technical decision-making, and execution from design through implementation.

The successful candidate will evolve technical solutions in alignment with architectural engineering and design principles while meeting business needs. Responsibilities include planning and evaluating options, recommending approaches, designing and operationalizing solutions, and ensuring ongoing support in compliance with enterprise and industry standards, with a strong focus on efficiency, reliability, performance, and security.

The role also provides expert leadership in system and application administration, installation, configuration and provisioning, platform planning and integration, and release and deployment management.

Key Accountabilities
  • Own solution design and technical decision-making across complex digital banking journeys.
  • Lead architecture and design reviews to ensure scalability, security, and alignment with enterprise standards.
  • Remain hands-on with code, design artifacts, and technical problem-solving as required.
  • Drive delivery execution that includes estimation, sequencing, and management of technical dependencies.
  • Guide teams on full-stack engineering practices across front end, APIs, and cloud integrations.
  • Champion AI usage across the SDLC, including development, testing, defect analysis, and productivity tooling.
  • Embed strong testing, CI/CD, and DevOps practices into solution designs.
  • Partner closely with Engineering Managers, Enterprise Architecture, and Cybersecurity teams.

Skills & Experience
  • Deep full-stack engineering experience (Angular, APIs/microservices, cloud platforms).
  • Proven ownership of end-to-end solution design for large-scale digital banking platforms.
  • Experience operating as a senior individual contributor with delivery accountability.
  • Strong understanding of secure, scalable, and resilient system design.
  • Hands-on experience applying AI tools across development and testing workflows.
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience
