Job Description

Sr IT Project Manager Consultant - Oil & Gas - Calgary (Hybrid)

Start Date: September 2025 (Part-time start possible in August)

Overview:
On behalf of our oil & gas client located in Calgary, AB, Brainhunter Systems Ltd. is seeking a versatile and collaborative IT Project Manager for an initial 6-month contract to lead a blend of infrastructure and application implementation projects. With several key initiatives underway-including a Windows 11 rollout to field sites, network upgrades, and enterprise application implementations -we're looking for someone who can hit the ground running, navigate complexity, and drive projects to success in a dynamic environment.
This role is best suited to someone who thrives in lean teams, wears multiple hats, and values both strategic thinking and tactical execution.

Key Responsibilities:
    • Manage multiple concurrent IT projects from initiation to closeout across infrastructure and application domains.
    • Support projects such as Windows 11 field deployment, network modernization, and application rollouts.
    • Guide stakeholders and vendors to align with project objectives.
    • Identify, manage, and escalate issues/risks proactively while maintaining delivery momentum.
    • Provide light business analysis support as needed-facilitating requirements gathering, process definition, and solution alignment.
    • Engage confidently with a range of internal teams and external vendors to maintain clear direction and accountability.
    • Ensure team alignment while keeping technical discussions on track without getting into deep technical detail.
QUALIFICATIONS:

    • 5+ years of experience managing both application and infrastructure projects.
    • Comfortable juggling multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment.
    • Ability to work independently and lead without heavy oversight.
    • Experience with field deployment or enterprise-wide technical rollouts is a strong asset.
    • Strong communicator with an ability to build consensus and drive action among cross-functional teams.
    • Some technical background or a strong ability to grasp conceptual technical ideas to stay aligned with IT teams.
    • PMP or similar certification is preferred but not required.
Working Style & Culture Fit:
    • You're not a wallflower or a bulldozer-you know how to read a room, build alignment, and get things done.
    • Strategic in thinking, tactical in planning-able to roll up your sleeves when needed.
    • Adaptable and responsive; able to pivot as priorities shift.
    • Proactive, but respectful of pace and work/life balance.
    • Culturally aligned: collaborative, composed, and delivery-focused.
Work Schedule:
    • Hybrid environment with 4 remote days per month (typically Fridays).
    • Flexibility available for part-time ramp-up prior to September start date.
