Position Overview: Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager - Analytics & Reporting, the Supply Chain Data Analyst supports key strategic initiatives and operational initiatives of supply chain by gathering and representing data in a meaningful way to make key business decisions. The Supply Chain Analyst's activities have a direct impact on operational efficiency and organizational success. The Supply Chain Data Analyst also develops and maintains relationships with other departments such as Finance, Decision Support Services and BP&S.

Job Description:
Major Job Functions:
  • Interpret user requirements, make and communicate logical decisions, and develop accurate reports to provide the requested information
  • Create SEQUEL queries to extract data for reporting. Automate and format reporting in Excel using macros
  • Act as a technical resource for the Supply Chain department. Train other members of the department to effectively use the various application software that are available to them
  • Modify existing reports for changing requirements or optimization as well as validate new reports to ensure effectiveness and accuracy of information
  • Actively participates in meetings and on projects; working as a member of the Supply Chain team to determine root causes of issues and brainstorm solutions
  • Assess, develop and/or improve any of the procedures and processes within the Supply Chain Department
  • Accountable for accuracy and relevance of reporting as well as responsible to validate the results prior to presenting to user
  • Represent the company in an ethical and professional manner and maintain confidentiality
  • Provide analytical and reporting support to supply chain team

  • Proficient in MS Office and Visual Basic Macros
  • Proficient in BI tools such as Tableau, SQL Server, Toad
  • Knowledge of, or experience with, the Lawson system, DB2, and/or SQL Server query syntax
  • Understands and adheres to Finning policies and procedures, including safety
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft Bl stack (SQL Server)
  • Knowledge of supply chain management
  • Knowledge of data warehouse, data mart and database technologies, standards, and methodologies is an asset


Education & Experience:
  • A business degree along with minimum 3-5 years of technical (programming/SQL) experience required
