The Opportunity - Shape the World Around You

As a Surveyor / Survey Technologist supporting our Transportation business across Alberta, you'll be part of the team that brings highways, bridges, transportation corridors, and critical public infrastructure to life.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in both field and office environments, values autonomy and flexibility, and wants to build a long-term career as part of a highly respected provincial survey team.

Your Impact
  • Deliver high-quality survey support that strengthens design and construction outcomes across Alberta's transportation network.
  • Apply strong quality management practices to ensure accuracy, reliability, and compliance on every project.
  • Support construction supervision teams by producing grade files, conducting stakeout, checking grades, performing QA/QC, and generating construction quantities.
  • Complete topographic, utility, and detail surveys to support engineering design using RTK GNSS, robotic total stations, scanners, drones, and terrestrial scanning tools.
  • Provide technical expertise for design teams by collecting and processing field data, preparing survey bases, creating legal composites, and drafting in Civil 3D.
  • Produce drone mapping deliverables (LiDAR and photogrammetry) and manage processing workflows.
  • Establish and maintain control networks using GNSS and static GPS methodologies.
  • Perform quality reviews on work completed by internal staff and independent contractors to ensure consistency and accuracy.
  • Contribute to project planning by estimating survey scope and supporting client communication.

The Skills That Set You Apart
  • A diploma in Surveying, Geomatics, or Civil Technology, supported by extensive hands-on field experience.
  • 5+ years of industry experience, with strong preference for highways, transportation, or heavy civil projects.
  • Deep familiarity with GNSS, robotic total stations, scanners, drones, and construction-grade instrumentation.
  • Proficiency in Trimble Business Center and Autodesk Civil 3D for data processing and field-to-finish workflows.
  • A mindset grounded in accuracy, safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Comfort working outdoors in variable conditions and travelling for assignments (up to two weeks at a time).
  • A commitment to doing work that matters - to communities, clients, and the environment.
