The Taxation team is a high performing, national in-house tax team that is a passionate, dedicated and collaborative. We provide expertise to the various entities of TELUS, and its businesses. As trusted partners, we help support complex business transactions from a taxation perspective, work with the businesses to provide practical solutions and are responsible Canadian and International income tax, indirect/commodity tax, property/real estate tax, and related compliance.

As a Tax Associate, you will be the prime support for property tax filings and related compliance for a large portfolio of corporate and telecommunications infrastructure assets in Alberta (AB) & Québec (QC). You will also be a back-up for your peer who supports British Columbia (BC), Ontario (ON), The Maritimes and the United States of America (USA). Collaborating closely with external stakeholder and internal partners, you will ensure we meet our obligations on time and accurately. This is not just a great opportunity to develop or enhance your tax expertise in real estate but also support the areas of income and indirect tax as opportunities to assist the Canadian Income Tax team & Commodity Tax team members become available.Here's how
•Managing and processing property tax invoices
•Providing reports on our telecom infrastructure assets to various provincial authorities
•Preparing monthly reconciliations and journal entries
•Verifying exchange-traded funds (ETFs) information with municipalities
•Collaborating with municipalities, landowners and internal partners including Accounts Payable, and Real Estate team
•Providing solutions to complex issues and driving continuous improvements and better outcomes and experiences
•Contributing to maintaining and enhance our strong team culture by assisting, when needed, the Canadian Income Tax team with annual filings, and the Commodity Tax team with audits Qualifications:You're the missing piece of the puzzle
•3-5 years of experience in an accounting role
•Understanding of accounts payable function
•Proficiency with Microsoft (MS) Excel, Word, PowerPoint
•Learning mindset, creativity, initiative, and flexibility when faced with change and/or ambiguity
•Strong communicator and presenter with the ability to convey insights, concepts and ideas in a clear and concise manner
•Attention to detail, organizational skills, and track record of delivering on multiple, concurrent deliverables/projects as promised
•Business Administration degree with specialization in Accounting and/or Finance Great-to-haves
•Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) and/or other accounting designations
