Reporting to the Lead, Mine Design and Geology, the Technical Product Owner is responsible for providing technical product leadership, solution design and delivery, support and sustainment of specialized Geology and Mine Engineering Products for our operations around the world. This role requires travel to our sites in British Columbia.

Responsibilities:
  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Champion business engagement, product leadership, innovation, backlog refinement, solution delivery, business process improvements using Agile oriented approach
  • Plan and implement updates to an array of specialized Mine Engineering systems
  • Manage system configuration, database configuration, security, and customization to optimize process working with a range of vendors
  • Act as a Product Owner for cross functional teams, leading an Agile team with practices and iterating on the team process to match the evolving organizational context and technology landscape
  • Gather and analyze information to build business process models within the process modelling methodology framework to support process improvements
  • Facilitate Product Roadmap development and planning working with external product owners, stakeholders, vendors, and users across multiple teams
  • Provide technical expertise, leadership, and project coordination services to support and maintain continuity of our operations and support the startup of a new operation
  • Elicit detailed functional and non-functional requirements and user stories, drive process optimization initiatives for current and future needs
  • Operate in a sustainment capacity for business-critical tools, applications, and expert systems; leverage vendor support to identify and resolve high priority issues, including change management, release management, knowledge management and team leadership
  • Build and maintain system sustainment documents, external systems design documentation and internal support knowledge base
  • Collaborate closely within a product ownership community of practice to share knowledge and elevate product practices across teams

Qualifications:
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Applied Science, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Certification as a Scrum Product Owner and or Scrum Master
  • Minimum five years of experience in a Technical or a Product Owner role, including knowledge in all aspects of Product Backlog Management and Product Ownership
  • Experience in leadership for enterprise-grade products and systems
  • Experience in Mining industry
  • Experience in leading and delivering medium to large scale projects/products with diverse stakeholders
  • Exceptional system analysis, and design skills including Business Analysis, BPM methodologies and advanced Business Process Modelling
  • Knowledgeable in Power BI, Analytics, dashboard, report development and data modeling and engineering including, Azure (IaaS, SaaS, and PaaS)
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license
  • Ability to communicate in Spanish would be a strong asset
