Due to growth and continued success, TELUS is looking for a qualified, seasoned professional to fill a Technology Consultant position in the Optik TV™ Service Center Team. The successful candidate will join the Optik™ Service Center team to provide leadership, development and support for TELUS' leading edge technology to provide the best service in Canada. Responsibilities:
•Provide hands on technical consultation for Optik TV platform
•Support 24/7 365 shift rotation.
•Plan, deploy, and operationalize new projects for the Optik platform.
•Support the team in day to day operations and new evolving technologies while utilizing change management standards
•Work and share best practises with talented colleagues in a fun and fast paced team environment
•Work both independently and in a cross functional team environment

Advanced knowledge, understanding and experience of:
•Windows 2008 R1/R2 and Windows 2012 Server technologies
•Redhat UNIX Server technologies
•Hands on experience on Splunk specifically Monitoring and Alerting capabilities.
•Virtualization Technologies (Hyper V/VMware)
•LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, Multicast and Unicast traffic
•Active Directory & Identity Management
•Systems methodologies/tools for troubleshooting
Additional experience with any the following will be considered and asset:
•Network Design & Management
•Protocols/Technologies: DHCP, TCP/IP, TCP, UDP, TFTP, FTP, HTTP, HTTPS, XML, NFS, DNS, SAN, NNTP, etc
•IBM Blade Technology and storage
•Firewalls, F5 LTM/GTM
•EMC Storage knowledge (VNX and VMAX)
•Scripting: Shell, Perl, C, Java, XML, Visual Basic, Powershell etc Required Skills & Abilities:
•Advanced/superior technical and analytical skills. Requires judgment in making and owning technical decisions
•Advanced Ability to lead and collaborate with a variety of diverse groups and technical teams (internal and/or external)
•Develops and fosters positive relationships with other team members
•Support specific customer issues through assessment, interpretation, resolution or recommendationsRequired Professional Designation/Certification:
•Degree in Computer Science or Engineering
•Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist Certification considered an asset
•CISCO Certification considered as an asset
•Splunk Certification considered as an assetRequired Experience:
•Minimum of 5 years of equivalent experience in the IT industry displaying progressive responsibility and achievement in a large scale environment
•Demonstrated experience in a telecommunications environment
