Due to growth and continued success, TELUS is looking for a qualified, seasoned professional to fill a Technology Consultant position in the Optik TV™ Service Center Team. The successful candidate will join the Optik™ Service Center team to provide leadership, development and support for TELUS' leading edge technology to provide the best service in Canada.

Optik Service Centre team is first line of defence for supporting TELUS TV Service, we work on exciting Microsoft server technologies and networking technologies to make sure everything works together for our TELUS TV service. We deploy and test various software components of TELUS TV and get to play with software on latest gadgets like HDR TV and latest smart phones on the market.

Here's how...
    •Provide hands on technical consultation for OptikTV platform •Support 24/7 365 shift rotation •Plan, deploy, and operationalize new projects for the Optik platform •Support the team in day to day operations and new evolving technologies while utilizing change management standards •Work and share best practises with talented colleagues in a fun and fast paced team environment •Work both independently and in a cross functional team environment •Systems methodologies/tools for troubleshooting •Advanced/superior technical and analytical skills; requires judgment in making and owning technical decisions •Advanced Ability to lead and collaborate with a variety of diverse groups and technical teams (internal and/or external) •Develops and fosters positive relationships with other team members •Support specific customer issues through assessment, interpretation, resolution or recommendations •Degree in Computer Science or Engineering •Minimum of 5 years of equivalent experience in the IT industry displaying progressive responsibility and achievement in a large scale environment •Demonstrated experience in a telecommunications environment


Advanced Knowledge, Understanding and Experience of:
    •Windows 2008 R1/R2 and Windows 2012 Server technologies •Redhat UNIX Server technologies •Hands on experience on Splunk specifically Monitoring and Alerting capabilities •SCCM/IIS/SCOM/SQL •Virtualization Technologies (Hyper V/VMware) •LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, Multicast and Unicast traffic •Enterprise architecture •Active Directory & Identity Management •Project Management •Change Management

    •IPTV is strongly preferred •CISCO Certification •Splunk Certification •Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist Certification •Collaboration tools/database •Network Design & Management •Protocols/Technologies: DHCP, TCP/IP, TCP, UDP, TFTP, FTP, HTTP, HTTPS, XML, NFS, DNS, SAN, NNTP, etc •IBM Blade Technology and storage •Firewalls, F5 LTM/GTM •EMC Storage knowledge (VNX and VMAX) •Scripting: Shell, Perl, C, Java, XML, Visual Basic, Powershell, etc
