The TELUS Optik TV™ - Service Center is a 24x7x365 operations supported by a group of dedicated, technology experts who are committed to providing the most reliable and exceptional experiences for our customers. As part of the team you would be located in downtown Edmonton, right off the light rail train public transportation and close to the new Edmonton bike lane grid.
We monitor, maintain and deploy new products and services that support our video products on set top boxes, tablets and smartphones. This means we get to play with the latest hardware and also a broad spectrum of software and networking technologies ranging from monitoring, data analytics and storage to name just a few. Recently, we have implemented a model that proactively delivers best in class standards for reliability, reducing the incident response time, plus we also developed new processes and tools to enhance troubleshooting capabilities.Here's the impact you'll make and what we'll accomplish together
As a Technology Consultant, you will support existing TV products & services and manage the operational readiness of new products & services. You will apply and grow your knowledge and expertise in troubleshooting software and hardware components and providing sustainable solutions in a large scale environment. There will be occasions where you will need to partner with external product vendors to resolve product issues. Collaborating closely with internal teams, you will be part of an exciting initiative to launch next generation cloud-based TELUS TV solutions. Your analytical acumen and creativity will drive process improvements and further elevate reliability and overall performance to deliver the best experiences for our customers.Here's how
•Provide hands-on technical consultation for TELUS Optik TV™ platform
•Monitor multi-tiered application environment utilizing various monitoring tools
•Apply and advance change management best practice to support existing and new, evolving technologies
•Collaborate with and foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders and externally with product vendors
•Troubleshoot and apply learning to establish new protocols and best practices
•Proactively drive process improvements
•Own and address complex customer issues end-to-end from assessment to interpretation to recommendation/resolution Qualifications:You're the missing piece of the puzzle
•Willing and able to work rotational shifts in a 24x7x365 operation
•Willingness to learn in a fast paced environment
•Ability to work in a team environment
•Noted for your advanced analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills, and innovative solutions
•Knowledge of Information Technology (IT) concepts, issues, practices, methodologies, and trends
•Bachelor degree in Computer Science or Engineering or related discipline Great-to-haves
•Experience with: Who is TELUS?
•Internet Protocol (IP) television (IPTV)
•Scripting: PowerShell, Perl, Python, Extensible Markup Language (XML)
•Windows 2008 R1/R2 & Windows 2012 Server technologies
•Experience with Linux server administration
•Splunk: Monitoring & Alerting
•Active Directory & Identity Management
•Microsoft (MS) System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), Internet Information Services (IIS), System Center Operations Manager (SCOM)
•Structured Query Language (SQL)
•5+ years of related IT support experience
