The TELUS Optik TV™ Service Centre is a 24x7x365 operations supported by a group of dedicated, technology experts who are committed to providing the most reliable and exceptional experiences for our customers.

We deploy new products and services onto set top boxes, tablets and smartphones. This means we get to play with the latest hardware and also a broad spectrum of software and networking technologies ranging from monitoring, data analytics and storage to name just a few. Recently, we have implemented a model that proactively delivers best in class standards for reliability, reducing the incident response time, plus we also developed new processes and tools to enhance troubleshooting capabilities.

Here's the impact you'll make and what we'll accomplish together

As a Technology Consultant, you will support existing TV products & services and manage the operational readiness of new products and services. You will apply and grow your knowledge and expertise in troubleshooting software and hardware components and providing sustainable solutions in a large scale environment. There will be occasions where you will need to partner with external product vendors to resolve product issues. Collaborating closely with internal teams, you will be part of an exciting initiative to launch next generation cloud-based TELUS TV solutions. Your analytical acumen and creativity will drive process improvements and further elevate reliability and overall performance to deliver the best experiences for our customers.

Here's how
    •Provide hands on technical consultation for Optik TV™ platform •Lead, plan, deploy and operationalize new projects for the Optik platform •Apply and advance change management best practice to support existing and new, evolving technologies •Collaborate with and foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders and externally with product vendors •Troubleshoot and apply learning to establish new protocols and best practices •Proactively drive process improvements •Own and address complex customer issues end-to-end from assessment to interpretation to recommendation/resolution

      •Windows 2008 R1/R2 & Windows 2012 Server technologies •Unix Server technologies •Virtualization technologies: Hyper V, VMware •Splunk: Monitoring & Alerting •Active Directory & Identity Management •Microsoft (MS) System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), Internet Information Services (IIS), System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) •Local Area Network (LAN)/Wide Area Network (WAN), Transmission Control Protocol (TCP)/Internet Protocol (IP), Multicast & Unicast traffic •Structured Query Language (SQL)
    •Respected for your strong project management and change management skills •Sought as a collaborative partner and trusted advisor who builds strong relationships by understanding the business and providing values add •Recognized as a keen learner, and strong communicator •Noted for your advanced analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills, and innovative solutions •Known for successfully managing multiple, concurrent projects and delivering on agreed upon commitments as promised •5 years of equivalent experience in the Information Technology (IT) industry and operating in a large scale environment •Bachelor degree in Computer Science or Engineering or related discipline

    •Experience with:
      •IP television (IPTV) •IBM Blade network technology and storage •Dell EMC Storage: VNX and VMAX •Firewalls, F5 Local Traffic Manager (LTM)/Global Traffic Manager (GTM) •Scripting: Shell, Perl, C, Java, Extensible Markup Language (XML), Visual Basic, PowerShell
    •Certification/designation in any of the following:
      •Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)/Cisco Certified Design Associate (CCDA) or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)/Cisco Certified Design Professional (CCDP) or Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE)/Cisco Certified Design Expert (CCDE) •Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS)
