Job Description

Contract opportunity for an experienced Full Stack Developer supporting the development and ongoing improvement of cloud-based web applications for a public-sector client.
  • Initial 12-month term, with an anticipated January 2027 start.
  • Potential extension of up to 12 months.
  • Remote work option, with infrequent onsite attendance in Edmonton potentially requested.
  • Availability for a minimum of seven hours per business day within 8:15 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Alberta time, Monday through Friday, excluding provincial holidays.
What & Why:
Our client is continuing the development of a digital platform and related applications that support access to educational content and resources. You will join an existing agile delivery team, contributing to both front-end and back-end development. Your work will include building new functionality, maintaining applications, improving responsiveness and scalability, and resolving technical issues across the application stack. The delivery environment includes AWS, C#/.NET, DynamoDB and modern JavaScript technologies. This opportunity suits a developer who enjoys working through requirements, implementing practical solutions, and supporting applications through testing and deployment.

Who:
You will collaborate with developers and other project team members on an established cloud software initiative and several smaller related projects. The team works across application functionality, integrations, automated testing and continuous delivery.

You:
You bring hands-on software development experience, a strong understanding of AWS application delivery, and experience taking modern web applications through development, build, testing and deployment. You can explain your technical decisions, translate requirements into working functionality, and troubleshoot issues across front-end and back-end components. Experience with C#/.NET, Angular and DynamoDB will be particularly relevant to the delivery work.
Critical Experience Requirements:
  • Education and experience: A university degree or two-year diploma in computer science or a related discipline from an accredited postsecondary institution, together with at least five years of software development experience; or a one-year certificate in computer science or a related discipline from an accredited postsecondary institution, together with at least seven years of software development experience.
  • At least five years of software development experience using C# and/or Java.
  • At least three years as a software developer on AWS software development projects.
  • At least three years developing, building, testing and deploying solutions using Angular 2.0 or higher and/or React.
Related educational disciplines may include software development, programming, systems design or information technology.
Nice to Have:
  • Developing cloud-native serverless applications on AWS using microservices architecture.
  • Experience with Angular 2.0+ and React, with the ability to describe your experience in each framework separately.
  • Working with NoSQL databases, particularly DynamoDB, and other technologies such as MongoDB.
  • Developing enterprise-scale, cloud-based platforms.
  • Using state management tools such as NGXS, NGRX or Redux.
Compensation:
Hourly contract compensation will be discussed based on experience, engagement structure and alignment with the client’s requirements.
