The Opportunity:

Intermediate Construction Inspector to join our Transportation group in Calgary, AB. Reporting to our Transportation Manager, you will be responsible for inspection, reporting and assisting with project coordination for Transportation related projects within South Central Alberta. You will provide technical and administrative services on construction projects to Clients, the WSP Area Manager and/or Project Manager. You will collaborate with the project team to ensure the Contractor's work meets the specified quality requirements, and assist with overall delivery and management of successful projects. You will also liaison with other WSP professionals on multi-disciplinary projects, as required.

This position will require travel and could result in periods of time away from the primary office in Calgary. It is preferred that you reside in the Calgary region, however suitable candidates living within Southern or Central Alberta will be considered.

This is a Permanent Full-Time position based in Calgary and requiring the ability to Travel.

What you can expect to do here:
  • Provide Construction Inspection services on multi-disciplined projects within the region
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager to ensure proactive project planning, coordination and execution
  • Carry out travel throughout the Calgary region and south/central Alberta to ensure project deliverables are being met
  • Attend project initialization meetings and weekly / bi-weekly / monthly meetings and participate with periodic, interim, substantial and final inspections
  • Assist the Project Manager with documentation for Meetings, Inspections, Summary Reports and the Final Details package
  • Learn new skills and become proficient in professional services related to civil construction, including tasks such as survey, materials testing and others as required
  • Outside the construction season, work could include design, drafting, quantity calculations and other tasks as required by the project team

What you'll bring to WSP:
  • Undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering or a diploma in Civil Engineering Technology will be preferred
  • Registered or eligible for registration with ASET as a T.T. or C.E.T., or with APEGA as an E.I.T. or P.Eng.
  • A valid Alberta Class 5 driver's license
  • A demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with multi-disciplined teams to deliver successful projects in an exciting, fast-paced work environment
  • Competence in Microsoft platforms including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project
  • Motivated and enthusiastic team player with a strong desire for project success
  • The ability to work at construction sites in Calgary or other areas for periods of time, depending on project needs
