Your Impact
- Identify environmental constraints for proposed developments, including wetlands, vegetation communities, listed species, and invasive/non-native species.
- Conduct vegetation and wetland field assessments across diverse sites in accordance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Support and participate in training of junior field staff, ensuring high-quality data collection and safety in all field conditions.
- Plan, scope, and oversee vegetation surveys to ensure robust ecological datasets for complex, multidisciplinary projects.
- Analyze and interpret ecological data to support project decision-making and environmental impact assessment processes.
- Prepare, review, and refine technical deliverables, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and compliance with client and regulatory expectations.
- Engage with clients, regulators, and internal project teams to align objectives and foster collaborative outcomes.
- Travel throughout western Canada for field programs, including remote and varied terrain, particularly during summer field seasons.
- Contribute to project proposals, budgets, and scopes, supporting business development and technical excellence.
- Champion WSP's and client HSE programs to ensure safe, responsible execution of all field activities.
The Skills That Set You Apart
- B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Botany, Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field with demonstrated wetlands focus.
- More than 2 years of plant identification experience across prairie, boreal, and wetland ecosystems.
- Experience in ecological consulting or equivalent environmental experience.
- Proven capability in wetland mapping, delineation, and classification (AB/SK wetland systems, aerial imagery interpretation).
- Familiarity with GIS tools for spatial review, desktop analysis, and ecological mapping.
- Understanding of environmental regulatory frameworks and guidelines relevant to western Canada.
- Experience collaborating within multidisciplinary environmental teams.
- Eligibility or registration with a professional association (e.g., P.Biol., P.Ag., R.T.Biol.) in Alberta or Saskatchewan.
- A valid Class 5 driver's licence (non-GDL).

Compensation
AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $ 62,800 - $84,400
MB & ON: $57,300 - $80,000
NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $56,700 - $76,400
