Contract opportunity supporting the accuracy and accountability of government-funded child care programs for an Alberta public-sector organization.
Our client is seeking detail-oriented, analytical professionals to review child care funding claims, supporting documentation and program information. You will assess claims against program requirements, investigate discrepancies, calculate financial adjustments and prepare findings that support consistent, well-documented decisions. Your work will help protect the accuracy and integrity of public funding while supporting clear communication with child care operators and other stakeholders.
Who:
You will work with program colleagues, child care operators and other stakeholders to gather information, clarify documentation requirements and resolve discrepancies. The role involves applying policies, procedures, funding agreements and program requirements to financial and operational information.
You:
You are comfortable working with large datasets, checking financial information and explaining your findings clearly. You bring sound judgment, accurate recordkeeping and the ability to manage competing deadlines. Your background may include payment verification, claims processing, grants or benefits administration, financial review, program administration, compliance or quality assurance.
Critical Experience Requirements:
Hourly contract compensation will be discussed based on experience, engagement structure and alignment with the client’s requirements.

- Primarily remote, with occasional Edmonton office attendance of up to 10% of total hours (must reside in Edmonton or within approximately one hour’s driving distance of the office)
- Full-time hours: 36.25 hours per week

Critical Experience Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- At least three years of Microsoft Office experience, particularly Excel and Outlook, including formulas and sorting/filtering spreadsheets containing thousands of rows.
- At least three years of accurate data processing and/or data-entry experience.
- At least one year of business writing, communication and documentation experience.
- At least three years in government or a highly regulated industry involving complex policy and governance requirements.
- At least three years working with clients or stakeholders to identify, gather, document and analyze business data and process requirements.
- Experience in compliance reviews, monitoring, quality assurance or similar verification activities.
- Experience calculating recoveries, adjustments, overpayments or other financial impacts.
- Experience using case-management systems, databases, records-management systems or similar business applications.
- Experience participating in risk-based review, monitoring, assessment or audit-related activities.
- Strong analytical, communication and prioritization skills.
- A degree, diploma or certificate in business administration, accounting or finance.
- Three years of financial-reporting experience involving financial-statement accuracy and reliability, using Excel.
- One year of experience within a Canadian public-sector organization.
- One year of experience with Alberta child care grant funding programs.
