The Opportunity:

A unique opportunity to live and work in the Canadian Rocky Mountains, WSP is currently seeking a motivated Senior Project Manager/Project Engineer to join our Canmore Land Development and Municipal Engineering team. Reporting to the Area Manager in Canmore, this position's responsibilities include working on a wide variety of projects in terms of type and scale including leading municipal water, wastewater, drainage, roadway infrastructure, and site servicing projects for public and private clients, including planning, design, and construction administration services. As a key member of the team, you will deal directly with clients and regulatory agencies.

What you can expect to do here:
  • Work with the Manager to build the existing Land Development and Municipal Engineering practice in the region;
  • Provide mentorship to new and existing junior staff;
  • Work with team members to complete, oversee and manage design and project execution for land development and municipal infrastructure projects including: site developments, municipal upgrades. water resources, watermain and sewage collection rehabilitation, road design, etc.;
  • Actively participate in the design and provide direction to the design team throughout the design
  • process;
  • Lead a multi-disciplinary project team to undertake major infrastructure projects;
  • Liaise with various municipal/utility/approval agencies;
  • Perform site inspections as required;
  • Be responsible for project budgets, project schedules, and client communications;
  • Apply proven design experience including conceptual, preliminary and detailed designs;
  • Contribute to RFP, Bid and Proposal documents; and
  • Other duties as assigned

What you'll bring to WSP:
  • Minimum of 10+ years of municipal infrastructure for Public and Private Sector projects;
  • An undergraduate degree in civil engineering from an accredited university;
  • Professional Engineer designation in Alberta;
  • A Technologist qualification may be considered, provided a professional certification and ability to stamp documents.
  • A Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is an asset;
  • Knowledge and application of Municipal standards and guidelines;
  • Project Management experience on municipal and/or private sector projects;
  • Experience with storm, sewer, watermain, and road design;
  • Familiarity with local planning/approval processes;
  • Valid Driver's license;
  • Experience working with the various southern Alberta municipalities and/or within a mountain setting is an asset;
