Water Resources Engineer, Water Management
Posted 14 hours ago
Job Description
You want Purpose. Growth. Opportunity. People who get it.
We are the home of ambitious, passionate, and innovative world shapers.
With an unmatched breadth and depth of engineering, advisory and science-based expertise, our global minds unite to power local solutions. We are pathfinders and impact makers.
We are Visioneers. We are WSP.
The Opportunity
Your Impact Starts Here - In the Canadian Prairies, water is at the centre of some of the most pressing climate, infrastructure, and community-driven challenges in Canada. At WSP, these aren't assignments other firms struggle to staff, they're the projects that build careers. As a Water Resources Engineer you'll join a region known at WSP for accelerating growth and exposing engineers to high-impact, high-complexity work earlier and more meaningfully than competitors.
Here in the Prairies & North, you'll contribute to nationally significant water-management work, partner with Indigenous water authorities advancing self-determined water governance, and tackle climate-driven hydrology problems that redefine the profession. This isn't a detour or a compromise - it's the chapter that sets you apart.
If you live in Edmonton, Calgary, or Saskatoon, this is your moment to turn Prairie & Northern water work into the most defining chapter of your career.
Apply now and make your mark with WSP.
Your Impact
- Design and deliver operational water-management strategies that enhance system reliability and climate resilience.
- Build and analyze GIS-based datasets and mapping tools that guide high-stakes decisions for communities, provinces, and Indigenous governments.
- Lead hydrologic and hydraulic assessments that drive watershed plans, flood-risk mitigation, and infrastructure design.
- Evaluate river processes and geomorphology to support long-term watershed sustainability and nature-based solutions.
- Partner with Indigenous water leaders on community-driven, rights-affirming water management initiatives.
- Collaborate with hydrotechnical, ecology, climate, and geoscience experts across Alberta and Saskatchewan.
- Contribute to work that actively shapes policy, adapts infrastructure to climate extremes, and protects communities across the Prairies & North.
The Skills That Set You Apart
- A degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Environmental Science, Geography, Geomatics, or a related discipline.
- Eligibility or intent to register with APEGA or the provincial engineering association for SK.5-10 years of experience in water resources, operational water management, hydrology, or hydraulics.
- Proficiency in GIS (ArcGIS, QGIS), CAD, and tools such as Global Mapper.
- Experience with hydraulic and hydrologic modelling platforms (HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, MIKE) considered an asset.
- A drive to apply science to climate-impacted, community-critical water challenges.
