The Opportunity:

Our team is growing, and as a result we're adding a Water Quality Modeller to our group. As part of the team in Prairies and North, you'll be responsible for driving forward our ambitious plans to enhance our Earth and Environment service offering in the province through your work with a close-knit team of engineering specialists, professionals, and technical staff.

What you can expect to do here:
  • You'll be using water quality models to evaluate potential environmental effects of changes to aquatic systems for clients in the mining and natural resource sector;
  • You'll help to develop new models and modify existing models;
  • You'll support on conceptual model development, data analysis, and numerical modelling;
  • You'll collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to complete environmental impact assessments for large mining operations;
  • You'll support with preparing reports, proposals, and presentations.
  • You'll provide direction and delegation to junior water quality modelers

What you'll bring to WSP:
  • A university degree (preferably MSc or PhD in environmental science, environmental engineering or geochemistry);
  • 4 to 6 years of work experience in the field of water quality modelling;
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills;
  • Technical skills in surface water quality assessment and modelling;
  • Experience using surface water quality modelling software (i.e. GoldSim, WASP, CE-QUAL-W2, HSPF, etc...).
  • Knowledge of mining-related environmental practices and aquatic effects program development and execution
  • Knowledge of environmental assessment processes and permitting requirements
  • Ability to multi-task, maintain flexibility, and work independently
