Sr. Data Analytics & Reporting Consultant (6-Month Contract) (Calgary/Hybrid)

Overview:

We are seeking a Senior Data & Reporting Consultant for a 6-month contract with our dynamic midstream oil and gas client. This role is a hybrid of business analysis, data analytics, and reporting, ideal for a highly motivated individual who thrives in a collaborative yet independent environment.

As a Sr. Analyst in the Transportation Analytics department at, you will lead advanced data driven projects, leveraging Microsoft platforms such as Power BI, Power Platform using Fabric, SQL Server, and automation tools to deliver sophisticated insights and solutions. This role will oversee the end-to-end data pipeline, ensuring data accuracy, optimization, and automation of processes that directly influence key business decisions. The Sr Analyst will mentor junior team members, including Analysts, and play a key role in architecting advanced analytics solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
    • Design, develop, and implement advanced data models, reports, and dashboards using Power
    BI, Fabric and SQL Server that drive actionable insights and operational efficiency.
    • Lead the automation and application development of complex workflows and processes using
    the Power Platform, including Power Automate, Power Apps, and Power BI.
    • Ensure the optimal performance, security, and scalability of analytics solutions across the
    department.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather business requirements, translate them into technical
    designs, and develop solutions that meet high-level organizational objectives.
    • Mentor Analysts, providing guidance on best practices in data analysis, automation, and
    Microsoft platform usage.
    • Manage large-scale data integration projects and ensure the quality, accuracy, and consistency
    of data across various platforms.
    • Participate in strategic discussions, contributing to the roadmap for data and analytics
    infrastructure within the transportation department.
    • Develop and maintain technical documentation for any project related work.
    • Build relationships with stakeholders within Midstream Division that include Trucking, Rail,
    Logistics, Operations and Commercial.

Required Skills & Experience:
    • 7+ years of relevant experience in data analytics, business analysis, and reporting roles
    • Proven ability to work independently in fast-paced, cross-functional teams
    • Strong understanding of end-to-end data processes, including data extraction, transformation, and visualization
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Fabric or Azure Data Factory
    • Advanced skills in Power BI and the Power Platform
    • Programming experience with Python for data processing and automation
    • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with non-technical stakeholders
    • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, can-do attitude
    • Previous experience in the oil and gas or energy sector is preferred
