The Opportunity

WSP is currently seeking a motivated Water Resources Engineer to join our successful Water Resources Team based out of the Calgary Office. This position will be responsible for the execution of studies and designs for stormwater management, wastewater collection, and water distribution systems for both existing and future communities. Practicing across the Municipal, Land Development, Transportation, and Renewable Energy Markets, this position will have diverse exposure to a broad range of projects. This position will engage with internal and external clients in the execution of these tasks and as such will be expected to have strong written and verbal communication skills in addition to a solid technical skillset.

A day in the life:
  • Prepare and manage the design and delivery of drainage, hydrotechnical, and/or stormwater management projects;
  • Prepare and review preliminary, detailed, and tender drawings, designs and plans;
  • Prepare and review calculations and technical assessments;
  • Prepare and review hydraulic and hydrologic models;
  • Prepare and review reports and other project related documentation;
  • Prepare and review presentation materials and proposals;
  • Very limited field work may be required.

What you'll bring to WSP ...
  • Undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering or related field with a focus on water resources;
  • An advanced degree in the field of Water Resources Engineering would be an asset;
  • 6 - 10 years of experience;
  • Eligible to be licensed as a Professional Engineer in your Province of employment;
  • Previous experience in the field of municipal engineering, storm water management, water resources planning/engineering would be a strong asset;
  • Familiarity with Edmonton and Alberta region engineering standards and practices;
  • Proficient knowledge in the use of hydrotechnical modelling softwares such as PCSWMM, MIKE+, or Infoworks;
  • Proficient knowledge in the use of engineering sofwares such AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and GIS software.
  • Knowledge of sector-specific standards and specifications;
  • A self-motivated individual looking for advancement opportunities.
