The Opportunity
Build the future with us - As a Junior Buyer, you'll be part of WSP's Supply Chain Management group in our Calgary office, contributing directly to procurement activities that support complex engineering and construction projects across Canada.
In this role, you'll collaborate with project teams, engineers, vendors, and client procurement representatives to ensure the timely and accurate execution of purchasing activities. You will support mechanical, instrumentation & controls packages, and a range of site and construction services contracts - all while helping us strengthen our delivery excellence.
Your Impact
- Prepare, issue, and expedite bid and proposal packages that support project schedules and procurement strategies.
- Support the development of project vendor lists, ensuring alignment with client and project requirements.
- Participate in bid evaluations, comparing proposals and assisting senior buyers in supplier selection processes.
- Issue purchase orders, contracts, or requisitions (with appropriate approvals) in alignment with governance requirements.
- Assist in risk assessment, validating procurement decisions against plans, budgets, and contractual obligations.
- Support change management activities by assessing commercial impacts and documenting adjustments.
- Collaborate closely with Project Engineers and Responsible Engineers to maintain procurement continuity and deliverables.
- Work with expeditors to track, identify, and resolve delivery slippages, escalating concerns to the project team as needed.
- Communicate procurement status, schedule risks, and delivery updates to internal and client stakeholders.
- Coordinate with vendors and client procurement teams to ensure all activities related to purchase orders are fully addressed and compliant.
- Close out purchase orders, ensuring all contractual and procedural conditions are satisfied.
- Maintain accurate reporting and provide timely business communication across all levels of the organization.
The Skills That Set You Apart
- A degree, diploma, or certificate in Supply Chain Management or Procurement.
- 0-4 years of experience in an EPCM or engineering-driven environment.
- Training or experience with SCM software, procurement workflows, and documentation standards.
- Knowledge of contracts administration considered an asset.
- Ability to work collaboratively across engineering, project management, and vendor teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Curiosity and initiative - ready to develop expertise in purchasing complex technical packages.

Compensation
AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $66,700 - $88,400
MB & ON: $60,900 - $83,800
NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $56,700 - $76,400
